HOW TO RECOVER DELETED WHATSAPP CHATS?
Hello there!
Deleted your WhatsApp chats accidentally? Well, You can get them back by following some simple steps. I'll show you how can you do it with ease. Please be careful with the steps, read every step properly then only go for it otherwise you may loss the chats forever! But before going any further we need to remember some things:
- WhatsApp takes backup of your chats everyday at 4 AM and stores it in WhatsApp folder in either inter memory or external SD card.
- WhatsAp chats that are too old can not be recovered.
Depending upon how much old chats you need to recover, we will specialize the process in to two forms :
Chats deleted in last 24 hours or less :
- First of all we need to see when your last backup was taken. For that, open WhatsApp in your android device and from chats chats screen go to Settings > Chat Settings.
- You will able to see last backup date and time under Backup Conversations. (NOTE : DO NOT TOUCH BACKUP CONVERSATIONS, It will take backup of your current chats and you will not be able to restore any chats deleted before that).
- If you want to recover chats deleted after the last backup time, you can do it by simply uninstalling and reinstalling WhatsApp. (NOTE : You can not restore the chats or messages that were deleted from your phone before the last backup was created).
- Uninstall WhatsApp from your device and reinstall it. You will be asked if you want to restore the chat history that was found. Tap RESTORE.
Chats deleted in last 7 Days or less :
- If you do not want to lose your currents chats, you can create a manual backup by going through : WhatsApp > Menu > Settings > Chat Settings > Backup Conversations. If you do not want current chats backup, you should directly proceed to step 3.
- This manual backup file will be saved as "msgstore.db.crypt7" or "msgstore.db.crypt8" in your /sdcard/WhatsApp/Databases folder. Save this file as "msgstore.db.crypt7.current" or "msgstore.db.crypt8.current" (depending on the original file extension) so you do not get it confused with other backup files during the restoration process.
- Uninstall WhatsApp by going through Settings > Apps > WhatsApp > Uninstall.
- Now open databases folder in your file manager. (sdcard>WhatsApp >Databases). Choose which file you want to restore depending upon dates included in database file names.
- Rename that file from "msgstore-YYYY-MM-DD.1.db.crypt7" to "msgstore.db.crypt7" or from "msgstore-YYYY-MM-DD.1.db.crypt8" to "msgstore.db.crypt8" (depending on the original file extension).
- Now install WhatsApp. When you're asked to restore the chat history, choose RESTORE. After completing installation successfully, you will be able to see your restored chats in your chats screen.
- If you want to revert the restoration, change the backup filename to what it was, rename "msgstore.db.crypt7.current" to "msgstore.db.crypt7" or "msgstore.db.crypt8.current" to "msgstore.db.crypt8" and follow these steps again.
